Love Like You Never Burned
In times of revolution all the rules are bent. Want to live solutions. What is time well spent? Digging, bleeding, have to keep eating. Soul is screaming keep the dreaming. Well, I'm glad I didn't kill myself when I had the chance. Makin' up the difference. Hopin' for half a chance. Digging, bleeding, have to keep eating. Soul is screaming keep the dreaming. The stars, wet feet, real touch, your skin, my skin, skinnin' our skin and touch within. And howl and crawl and thrash and moan and love like you never burned, and love like you never burned, like you never burned, like you never burned, like you never, BURST!
Caw Lady Coo
Achin' as loud as an old oak's groan in a northern November an hour before the dawn. Shingles how they shiver in her weather beaten home. In the ashes of her firestove she blows a single coal. Knittin' rag dolls in an heirloom chair for babes gone as whispers through her unkept hair. With a voice made of rip rap come songs of sun and dreams to mend up the stitch of broken memory. Caw Lady Coo whatchya' doin' with the crows? You gotta halo for a headdress, your black silk on. With a sigh and an eye wanderin' to the door, the wind kicks up and the tall pines moan. The floorboard creaks when her hand reaches the latch. A sentimental smile says she's never comin' back. Caw Lady Coo, whatchya' doin' with the crows? You gotta halo for a headdress, your black silk on. Her thousand mile feet had never steppped with such ease as they do on this day of divine propriety. Toil and trouble's scramblin'. Their time with her has passed. She's gotta meetin' with the maker. Ain't nothin' more to ask. Caw Lady Coo, whatchya' doin' with the crows? You gotta a halo for a headdress, your black silk on. Caw Lady Coo. See your halo.
Moon Cracked Open
Like a mariachi rambler on a polka afternoon, dancing on glass ceilings with heavy loaded boots. Gonna whip me up some spells, give fate a little spin. Fortune's on my table. I'm feelin' elevated. Feelin' like the queen of a junkyard ball. Don't need no hairspray, I've got natural charm. Keep a little lightening in my pocket when in need. I've got dirt under my nails and a lion up my sleeve. The moon cracked open with a body boom sound. Down came the dream of her pouring to the ground. I filled my cup 'til it spilled over the brim. Lifted up slowly, took her right in. Got lights in my eyes and a wiggle in my hip. The cold dark ground don't got me, yet. Holdin' my umbrella at the howlin' cliff's edge. I got my goggles strapped on, I'm hangin' ten. The armadillo smiled when I took my leap. Kicked off the rocks that were strapped to my feet. Caught the thermodynamics off a flock of geese. I say, the super fly view cannot be beat. The moon cracked open with a body boom sound. Down came the dream of her pouring to the ground. I filled my cup 'til it spilled over the brim. Lifted up slowly, took her right in.
Snapshot Memories
Snapshot memories tied on a silver string, unraveling. False gods make the scene busy and glittery to hide the eyes from seeing. Feel like a tolling bell ringing from the streets of hell. Burning in the firelight. Looking in the firelight. Snapshot memories tied to a silver string, unraveling. False gods make the scene busy and glittery to hide the eyes from seeing. Single dove in a flock escaping from the magic box. Silhouette against the sky. Burning firelight. Snapshot memories tied to a silver string, unraveling. False gods make the scene busy and glittery to hide the eyes from seeing.
Texas Woman
Sirens piercin' my brain. Gunshots echo down the alleyway. Uniforms surroundin' me. Gun and baton comin' down on me. I've been up awake all night. Sunrise would be such a beautiful sight. Old Texas woman. Her man beat her to the bone. She shot him down. They put her on death row. She said go and kill me now. Let every woman know. When she protects herself, six foot down she'll go. I've been up awake all night. Sunrise would be such a beautiful sight. Now that Govenor man said, "Woman, don't you know? You cannot kill a man and expect us to let you go." He said, "Take that woman down. Good ole boys gotta show." Grandma's dead in the ground. She fought the status quo. I've been up awake all night. Sunrise would be such a beautiful sight. Now, you might beat on me. Try to hold me as your own but, I will always be free. I am somethin' you'll never own. I've been up awake all night. Sunrise is such a beautiful sight. Always in a state of fight or flight. I know in the end it will be alright.
Ghost Horse
Key of the heart hides in the eyes. Witness for the guessing, for love's sake we risk. Morning whispers hold my secret. Bareback rider on ghostly kisses. Naked in the early rays. Still I wonder, still I wait. Ghost Horse whispers shiver my ears. Unfolding boldness of a soul. A timeless once seemed far but is near. Ghost Horse roams in your backyard. Watches your secrets. Give them safe keeping. Ghost Horse whispers shiver my ears. Unfolding boldness of a soul. A timeless once seemed far but is near. Key of the heart hides in the eyes. Witness for the guessing, for love's sake we risk.
Break the Door Down
Exploding in tiny shards and pieces. Floating in screaming slow motion to the dirt. The dirt. My body disappears and then comes back again. I've been waiting with a knife and a bag of innocence. Silent. Silent. You want to? Come on break the door down. I want to. Come on break the door down. I'm ready. You ready? Ready.
Beatrice
Oh Beatrice, don't you know? You get ten million wishes, so blow. In a sepiatone somewhere she lies in her sleep. Dreams that her nightmares the pillow will keep. While paperdolls roll somersaults in picturesque scenes. Betrayal of innocence made civil and clean. Good intentions of inept hands trace the dark lines of scars on the mend. Superficial glory groping to death. Her unafraid eyes and catching her breath. Beatrice, she popped the box, she popped the box, she popped the box, today. Beatrice, she dropped the rocks, she dropped the rocks in her pockets, today. Explosive stars fly from her eyes. A baby step spills her in the ancestors mind. Universal truth plays dress up games in psyche-motion pictures that toss her awake. Beatrice, she popped the box, she popped the box, she popped the box, today. Beatrice, she dropped the rocks, she dropped the rocks in her pockets, today. Beatrice, she popped the box, she dropped the rocks, she popped the box, today.
Sara Lane
Sara Lane, Sara Lane, life rolls on, Sara Lane. Sara Lane, Sara Lane, life rolls on today. Put your wishes in your bag. They won't change what has been. Strap your boots, grab your hat. Life rolls on. Sara Lane, Sara Lane, life rolls on Sara Lane. Sara Lane, Sara Lane life rolls on today. When the red-winged blackbird sings there's no thought of better wings. Hold yourself. Forget your things. Life rolls on. In a single moment's thought your world will change despite the clock. Don't take for granted all your luck. Good or Bad.
Sweet Mountain Man
All my girl days were a flash in the pan. Trying to find my way through this ole lonesome land. Never could I have known what was down in the plan when I laid my eyes on that sweet mountain man. Saw him 'cross the way and I thought, "Oh my Lord. This one's gonna wreck me, I am bound to fall hard." I'm gonna tell you and I'll say it soft and low, "Boy, don't you know you got me rattled to the bone?" Come in the garden and get a little wild with me. Picked up that horn and I said without a doubt, "Hey there, honeybabe you know I'd surely be proud if you could learn to love me I would ride on the clouds, be there in the evening and let you take me down." Come in the garden and get a little wild with me. "I'm makin' way to see you," was his sugar-salt reply. "I'll be there in the evening and we'll take a moonlight ride." So, when he came a'knockin', well you know it's no suprise, I opened up my door and I let him come inside. All these long years doin' the best that I can. Tryin' to find my way through this ole lonesome land. Never could I have known what was down in the plan when I laid my eyes on that sweet mountain man. Yeah, I fell in love with that sweet mountain man.
On 9th
It was a summer hot day so I took a stroll down 9th, and when I turned the corner, this old man caught my eye. Knick knack paddy wack. Didn't see a dog or bone. Seems to me he made the street the best he could of home. He was leanin' casually against a poll, a few folks gathered 'round. They were entertained by his animated way as he offered up his soul. He was a kooky sort with a quirky smile and somehow his words were tinglin' my bones. So, I slid up a little closer to get a better listen until I got near enough to see his sweaty brow glisten. "Snake oil remedies will work in a pinch for a belly full believer with a seven year itch!" Then suddenly his good eye flashed in the space of my direction. I have to admit I was taken aback but I stood firm in my location. And with a strangely sultry wiggle, he sauntered up slow. Took a deep breath, whispered low, "Be your own. Nothin' to show but what's in your heart's mind. On the no time. Don't erase your Divine Grace 'cause all you think you know won't hold you on that beaten path so beaten and worn from the footfalls before. Don't be a sacrifice for the industrial machine. Be a dream."
